I could not find the link to post the journal so apologize for the delay.

We are living in a rather crazy timeline where people are social distancing but more connected digitally. Even though I am still in New York, I "see" my friends back in Thailand much more since they are too doing social distancing in compliance with government's rules. A lot of my friends started doing Tik Tok and social medias more. Some play online games together now that we have more time to ourselves. From a perspective of an international student, it has been a fund and interesting journey for me to see how different government has been dealing with the COVID-19 issue, especially from the privacy perspective. For example, in Korea, information of the infected has been report in details. The main purpose is for people to avoid the area that the infected people have visited after the initial mass outbreak in South Korea. While I have not seen that happening in the US or in New York. I am conflicted on this issue, on one hand, I would respect the privacy of those infected to stay private and avoid public shame. On the other hand, I would like to know some information regarding infected area so I can avoid such place altogether. Then there is my Thai government who has been doing nothing but hiding the actual number of the infected. A lot of health information has been distorted. Some COVID-19 victims or casualties might be recorded under 'lung disease' or something along the line so that the number of the infected does not seem significant.

Nevertheless, South Korea is recovering on a much faster pace than the rest of the world, maybe being transparent and publishing such information was the right approach. But in the US, this would raise a common conflict between public interest and individual's privacy which are always difficult to pick a side.
