Personal Introduction

I’m here because I grew up picturing my future self working in politics, fighting for social justice. When I realized how slow progress is, and how difficult it is to ignore that feeling of futility, I started to take a less selfless path, but people I respect convinced me that a life in art, music, and general hipster-dom is not a justifiable or fulfilling existence for someone who has the potential to alleviate some of the real suffering in the world. I’m still not sure where to focus my energy, and I’m looking forward to this class in that regard.
